After the creation “Kristo,” based not on a choreographic score but on a body language that accompanies the words, Zappalà with this new creation, returns powerfully to his dance full of creative contradictions, with carnal and delicate flavors, musical but also atonal, explosive but also poetic and intimate. Musically inspiring this new creation are the wonderful atmospheres of David Lang’s music, the voices of the opera The Little Match Girl Passion composed in 2007, which won the Pulitzer Prize for music in 2008; voices that give life to a work of great sonic impact with sacred atmospheres originally inspired by Hans Christian Andersen’s Little Match Girl fairy tale, and which certainly have a reference in Bach’s Passion according to Matthew. In the new creation there will be no mention of Andersen’s fairy tale; it will be abstract, pure dance that will be the absolute protagonist. Inspiration also comes to Zappalà indirectly from Bach, from his Passion according to Matthew, and from the passion as extreme suffering that Christ and man, every man, every woman, (every little matchmaker) carries.
