FREE FALL – work in progress explores rhythm as free, not bound by measure or any other external structure. It grows within each dancing body on stage, relating ‘muscles tension’ to ‘speed’ at their extreme levels, through breath, tensions and relaxation. Creating a composition in the body, a specific vocabulary, the relation between the dancers establishes the audio and visual emphasis of the performance. The vocabulary is researched mainly through improvisation, both in studio and consequently on stage. On the basis of structural directions and agreements, this technique provides an open field in which the performers are continuously establishing themselves in relation to each other and the audience, making each performance unique.

Is man conscious of his own existence? Are we strong and sensitive enough to get the most out of life? Kick The Bucket is a duet filled with extreme emotions, according to Iván with a more positive slant than the saying ‘kick the bucket’ would suggest. It’s not about dying per se, though perhaps one can only truly live when one, figuratively speaking, dies.
Originally commissioned and premiered on the 12th of November, 2011 @ Korzo Theater, The Hague. At Scenario Pubblico, Kick the Bucket is interpreted by the dancers of ?FINMALTA THE DANCE ENSEMBLE
