[What happens if the space of action is restricted to the point of being able to enclose just the room for a chair?]

I-Sola is a choreographic research taking inspiration from the concept of “island” and exploring its multiple variations. The form of the island is considered as a projection of our thought and as a desire: according to Lacan, it is “the form of the form” of our perceptual experiences. The concept of island is investigated as a device: on the one hand, as a physical place and as a symbolic construction; on the other, as a limit and a threshold opening to new potentialities of perception. From the body to the image, performative research meets the visual one by exploring gesture and space and by molding a process in constant transformation. Visual and physical space, enclosed and reduced, becomes a choreographic object affecting the movement of body and the plasticity of images. By referring to Munari’s “Ricerca della comodità in una poltrona scomoda”, the installation explores the transformations of the body. The corporeal experience and the gaze are composed and decomposed thus exploring the possibilities connected to the limit, their sensations and their mythological meaning.
