This new creation by the toula limnaios company is inspired by the music of Gustav Mahler and is dedicated to the dust babies that we are. They are deeply rooted in our individual and universal memories. In “staubkinder” (dust children) we are transported to an absurd and confusing world. A world similar to our own, with the critical aspects of the present, the complexity of today and this uncertain space called the future. The dust children search for a foothold, the ground on which they rest their feet is foreign to them. Disturbing and poetic at the same time. There is a painting by Paul Klee called “angelus novus,” depicting an angel who seems to be about to turn away from something he is staring at. He would probably like to linger, to awaken the dead and recompose what has been shattered, but a storm blows from heaven caught in his wings so hard that the angel can no longer close them. This storm pushes him inexorably toward the future, to which he turns his back as the pile of ruins before him grows toward heaven. What we call progress is this storm.
