Ming Poon

Ming Poon is a movement choreographer. Since 1993, he has been working in both Europe and Singapore, first as a dancer and later, making his own works. His movement practice is based on the principles of body relation and touch perception. His approach to dance is one in which there are no dancers, only bodies in a constant process of relating as they reach out, converge, meet and separate. He also holds a BA degree in Sociology and Psychology.
He sees movement not only as a physical activity but also as a social one. In his works, he devises strategies that integrate his movement practice with elements from social experiment and interaction design, to bring about human interaction and connection. The aim is to open up meaningful ways of relating between people.

His works touches on themes of intimacy and vulnerability, performance of care, performative social realities and the bodies agentive and empathic potential.
