MK – Michele Distefano

Mk (established 1999) is considered as one of the most lively choreographic research ensemble of the Italian scene, with performances in Europe, Asia and South America.
It has been hosted by festivals and museums, galleries as the Ethnographic National Museum and the Ara Pacis in Rome, the BiennaleDanza in Venice, the Museion Bolzano, the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon among the others.
Among its lasts production and choreographic researches: the works Robinson (staged as guest performance at the 2016 NID Platform) Impressions d’Afrique, Hey, or the performances SUB, Fronterizo, Veduta and the Bali Dance Platform (Santarcangelo Festival 2014 and 2015).
MK has been supported by MIBACT Italian Ministry of Culture since 2010.

MICHELE DI STEFANO
Choreographer and performer, after being a singer in a punk new wave band, he’s been carrying out a personal research into movement. He established Mk in 1999.
He created works for Aterballetto, Biennale di Venezia, Scuola P.Grassi Milan, National Dance Academy Rome, Korean National Contemporary Dance Company.
He has often shared projects with visual and performance artists.
He recently published with Margherita Morgantin Agenti autonomi e sistemi multiagente , a book of choreographic instructions and meteorological reports.
In 2000 he wins the “Danza&Danza” Award for contemporary dance.
He has been awarded the Silver Lion at the IX Biennale Danza 2014 in Venice.
