#FICFest: 10 maggio

La quarta serata del #FICFest ha visto come protagonista Satiri, uno spettacolo della Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, la cui messa in scena è avvenuta al Teatro “Mario Sangiorgi” di Catania.

La prima ad apparire in scena è Naomi Berrill con il suo violoncello. Sulle note di Bach, entrano camminando Jari Boldrini e Maurizio Giunti, gli interpreti della performance firmata da Virgilio Sieni, coreografo e direttore della compagnia fondata nel 1992 a Firenze.

A richiamare il titolo è la grande maschera animale indossata da uno dei due danzatori. I satiri, infatti, sono generalmente raffigurati come esseri umani barbuti con orecchie, corna, coda e zampe caprine o equine. A ispirare il coreografo è la prima opera del filosofo tedesco Friedrich Nietzsche, La nascita della tragedia, in cui viene indagato il rapporto tra realtà dionisiaca e apollinea. Nella prima polarità, in effetti, è possibile rintracciare la figura del satiro, rappresentante autentico del dionisiaco.

I tre artisti sul palco hanno creato una scena empatica che ha coinvolto tutti gli spettatori, per l’intera durata dello spettacolo. Un’atmosfera costruita anche dal disegno luci che si sviluppa in due momenti differenti:

• prima, la visione delle figure è resa faticosa dalla poca luce che arriva sul palco, attraverso il riflesso di un  pannello argenteo sospeso.
• Successivamente, le luci diventano più forti, giallastre e calde, permettendo agli spettatori di guardare con più facilità.

Una luce comunque morbida, all’interno della quale i due danzatori hanno stretto una connessione sempre più forte, che si manifesta anche nella composizione coreografica, articolata per la maggior parte da sincronie. Il consistente uso del corpo caratterizza il movimento dei due performer, reso carico di gestualità.

Lo sapevi che esistono solo due strutture in Italia riconosciute come Centro di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale per la Danza?
Uno di queste è Scenario Pubblico e l’altra è proprio CANGO Cantieri Goldonetta, dove risiede la Compagnia Virgilio Sieni.

During the fourth day of the #FICFest, the Compagnia Virgilio Sieni, founded in 1992 in Florence, has performed at the Teatro ‘Mario Sangiorgi’ in Catania.

The performance opened with Naomi Berrill and her cello playing on the notes of Bach, while the dancers Jari Boldrini and Maurizio Giunti entered walking, one of whom wearing a huge animal mask.
The latter refers to Satyrs, mythological figures generally represented as bearded human beings with ears, horns, tails and goat or horse legs. The choreographer took inspiration from the first work of the German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche, The Birth of Tragedy, which investigates the relationship between Dionysian and Apollonian reality. In fact, in the first polarity it is possible to trace the figure of the satyr, authentic representative of the Dionysian.

The three artists on stage created an empathetic scene, involving all the public for the entire duration of the performance, also helped by the lighting design that has developed in two different moments:

• reaching the stage through the reflection of a hung silver panel, soft lights make the scene hard to see.
• Lights become stronger, yellowish and warmer, allowing the public to recognize the scene easier.

However, lights remain soft enough to accompany the connection between the two dancers, which becomes always stronger and expresses itself in the choreographic composition, mostly articulated by synchronous moments. The meaningful use of the body charges the movement of the two performers with gestures.

Did you know that there are only two institutions in Italy recognised as ‘Centres of Relevant National Interest for Dance’?
One of these is Scenario Pubblico and the other one is CANGO Cantieri Goldonetta, where the Compagnia Virgilio Sieni is settled.
